Last year, something quite unusual happened to me. I was on the subway at San Joaquín station looking out the window and waiting for the door to close when someone showed up. It was a young man who couldn’t find the door to get on the subway. So, a young lady helped him to get on holding his arm. He stood up next to me and stayed there until Plaza de Armas Station. Everybody got off. He took my arm and said: - ‘Could you please guide me to the exit?’. I was late for my class that day, but I couldn’t leave him alone with all those people running to the exit. So I introduced myself and so did he. His name was Francisco. I remember that he was wearing a huge pair of black sunglasses which concealed his eyes and had an enormous smile upon his face. On his hand, he had a special long stick to guide his steps.
While we were going upstairs to the exit, Francisco told me that he was a band-aid seller in downtown. Also, he mentioned that he was a fanatic of the band “The Beatles”. Suddenly, he began to sing the “She loves me” song. I was stunned since he had a great voice and a huge sense of humor. We laughed a lot together.
When we arrived at the exit, he thanked me and asked me to give him a hug. He hold me tight while he was telling me in my ear: - ‘Can I tell you something, but you don’t get angry with me?’. ‘No problem’, I said. ‘You’re hot!’, he whispered. I blushed and laughed a lot. We said goodbye to each other and he walked to Plaza de Armas happily.
I arrived late to the class that day. However, I was so happy since I helped someone so special and funny as he was. I will never forget my friend Francisco. I hope to see him someday again and ask him for another The Beatles song.
